Monica is a seasoned audit and risk management professional with over 30 years of progressive experience in internal audit, compliance, risk management, fraud prevention and detection, project management, business process improvement, corporate governance, and IT audit and controls. Her career spans both public and nonprofit sectors, including leadership roles with Fortune 100 companies and organizations across a wide range of industries such as banking, government, healthcare, aviation, food and beverage, real estate, and leisure services.

A trusted advisor and accomplished consultant, Monica has led internal and external audit teams in delivering impactful assurance and advisory services across enterprise risk areas including financial reporting, cybersecurity, IT operations, ethics and compliance, and fraud risk. Her extensive background includes dozens of external quality assessment reviews and a deep understanding of internal audit standards and best practices.

Monica’s leadership extends beyond audit execution—she has a strong track record in financial reporting at the board and program levels, enterprise risk management, and the development and facilitation of training programs. Most recently, she has consulted for high-profile clients, offering services in internal and IT audit, policy and procedure development, corporate governance, audit department design, external oversight, and continuous process improvement.

Monica currently serves as a Quality Services Assessor for the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA), supporting internal audit functions in achieving conformance with the International Standards for the Professional Practice of Internal Auditing. Her previous roles include serving as Manager of the Quality Department for the IIA, underscoring her ongoing commitment to audit excellence. She has delivered numerous presentations to audit and compliance committees at leading institutions, including Elevance (Anthem), Johns Hopkins Health System, and Independent Bankers Bank, and served on Johns Hopkins’ Physician Professional Practice Compliance Committee.

Monica is also a proud U.S. Army Veteran and an active community leader, having volunteered with organizations such as SHINE, Citizens of Gulf County Recovery Team, and local homeowners associations.
